This is a full‑time, temporary, non‑represented position expected to continue until November 25, 2026.The Engineering Division evaluates permit applications and reviews permit renewals for equipment and operations that emit air pollutants in the Air District's jurisdiction. The division provides technical support to other agency programs and assists businesses, trade associations, agencies, environmental groups, and community members with issues related to permitting and compliance.Beyond specific permitting work, the Engineering Division is actively engaged in projects such as emissions modeling of toxic air contaminants including health risk assessments, verification of emissions inventories, data/database development and management, and technical support for rules and regulations.A person in this position will perform a variety of duties in support of Engineering Division programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, processing routine permit applications, handling permit renewals, records management, data validation and entry, coordinating public notices, generating reports, and providing customer service.About the DivisionThe Engineering Division reviews and processes permit applications and renewals for approximately 10,000 facilities with 26,000 permitted devices and operations. It also manages Title V (Major Facility Review) permits for about 74 facilities. The division oversees programs to assess and reduce risks from toxic air contaminants through Regulation 11, Rule 18; the State Air Toxics Hot Spots Program; and Regulation 2, Rule 5. Initially under close supervision, incumbents provide administrative and technical support to staff.
