Salary Range:
AFT - U22 - Steps 1-8 $69,373 - $93,659

JOB SUMMARY:
Ramapo College of New Jersey, a public liberal arts institution, invites applications for a full-time temporary faculty position in the Law and Society program for the academic year 2026-2027. This is a one-year appointment.
Candidates should be trained in the interdisciplinary field of Law and Society, with a preference for those able to teach courses in legal theory, as well as the U.S. legal system, both civil and criminal law. The teaching load is 6 courses (24 credits) per academic year, typically distributed as a 3-3 load.
To be taught in Fall 2026: Law, Justice, and Morality; American Legal History; Issues in Criminal Justice. Spring 2027 schedule to be determined.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field or be ABD at the time of appointment. Doctoral studies must be in a social science or humanities area relevant to the study and teaching of socio-legal phenomena including, but not limited to, anthropology, area studies, communications/media, criminology, economics, gender/women's studies, geography, history, interdisciplinary studies, law, law and society, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, political science, sexuality, social work, sociology, etc. Candidates holding both a J.D. and a Ph.D., as well as those with relevant practical experience, are especially encouraged to apply; a J.D. alone is not sufficient.
