TEMPORARY COVERAGE - Substitute needed for DNA Collections

Specimen Specialists is looking to hire a candidate to join our team and serve as a PER DIEM DNA collector in the CEDAR RAPIDS, IA area to fill in every Wednesday until mid-September.   The main role of the job will be providing DNA testing (buccal swab) to our clients for their pending child support cases. This is a great opportunity to provide a valuable service to families in the state of Kansas.  We will need someone who will be available to cover testing for the following dates:

PLEASE NOTE - This position is TEMPORARY.

• DRAW SITE:  Child Support Office, Cedar Rapids, IA
• SCHEDULE: EVERY WEDNESDAY 9:00AM-12:00PM (August 12 through September 16)
• Rate of Pay: $22/hourly (substitute rate)
• START: Wednesday 8/12/2026

Having a medical background is preferred but not required for this position.  All staff will receive complete training online andover-the-phone.  Applicants should have great customer service skills and work well in a team environment yet be able to work independently. Must be reliable, professional and have a great attitude. Applicants must also have reliable transportation to report to the site for each testing shift.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Perform cheek swab specimen collections
• Take Photos and Ink prints of all clients
• Fill out handwritten Chain of Custody form
• Ensure specimens are properly and accurately labeled 
• Make FedEx run to drop off samples collected for the day
• Keep track of supply inventory and order as needed
• Able to work with the public and be friendly and professional
