Temporary Deputy Judicial Marshal
Compensation: $23.96 per hour

Job Summary
The Deputy Judicial Marshal provides security during courtroom proceedings and ensures the general security and safety of court employees. This position is responsible for directing jury activities and ensures jury security during jury trials. The Deputy Judicial Marshal is supervised by the Trial Court Administrator or his/her designee. The principal duties of this class are performed in both a courtroom and general office environment that may include exposure to potential personal danger.
Key Responsibilities
o Attends court proceedings, deters or controls courtroom disturbances and outbursts, and ensures security and safety of persons in the courtroom
o Carries out instructions of the presiding judge during courtroom proceedings
o Takes individuals into custody on warrants & as ordered by the presiding judge including but not limited to, arresting & book in process of individuals
o Monitors jury activities and performs duties of jury custodian, including jury orientation, arranging accommodations and transportation, escorting jurors to crime scenes, and tracking expenses
o Ensures safety and security for problem solving court proceedings, Family Court Service classes, Court Assistance Office and other court, courthouse, building, and related security, as needed
o Performs investigations of threats, juror misconduct reports, and related incidents as directed
o Provides guidance and training to part-time or temporary Deputy Judicial Marshals
o Assists the public by providing information and answering inquiries about court schedule, locations, and procedures
o Completes reports and other related documents in a timely manner
o Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with county and court policies, procedures, and safety practices
o Other duties as assigned
