Temporary EMT / Paramedic – 911 Field Operations -EMT

Job Title: Temporary EMT / Paramedic – 911 Field Operations 
Location: Clemson, South Carolina (Onsite) 
Assignment Type: Temporary Contract 
Duration: 90–180 Days 

Work Schedule: 

• Primary: 24 hours on / 48 hours off 
• Additional: Special event shifts (4–12 hours), rotating 12- or 24-hour shifts, or 40-hour workweek based on operational needs 

Position Overview 

A public safety EMS organization is seeking experienced Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics to support 911 field operations and ensure continuous emergency medical response within a structured, fire-based EMS environment. 

Selected candidates will integrate into established field crews, providing emergency medical care under organizational leadership, clinical protocols, and medical direction. This role requires adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with minimal supervision. 

This opportunity is ideal for EMS professionals with experience in municipal, county, university, or high-volume 911 systems. 

 Responsibilities 

• Respond to 911 emergency calls and assigned incidents promptly. 

• Deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) care within scope of practice. 

• Conduct patient assessments and determine appropriate treatment plans. 

• Stabilize, treat, transport, and transfer patients to healthcare facilities. 

• Operate effectively as part of a field EMS crew. 

• Follow established medical protocols, operational procedures, and safety standards. 

• Complete accurate and timely electronic patient-care reports. 

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations. 

• Inspect and maintain ambulances, medical equipment, and supplies. 

• Report equipment issues and ensure operational readiness. 

• Participate in station duties, briefings, and training activities. 

• Coordinate with emergency response partners (fire, law enforcement, hospitals). 

• Support special events, standby assignments, and emergency operations. 

• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership. 

Mandatory Qualifications 

• Current South Carolina EMT or Paramedic certification (or ability to obtain prior to start). 

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

• For Paramedics: 

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 

• Minimum 2 years of recent high-volume 911 ambulance experience. 

• Proven ability to independently assess and treat patients. 

• Experience with electronic patient-care reporting systems. 

• Ability to work extended shifts, including 24-hour rotations. 

• Ability to meet background, physical, driving, and onboarding requirements. 

• Willingness to follow organizational policies, protocols, and chain of command. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in fire-based EMS systems. 

• Municipal, county, or public safety EMS background. 

• High call-volume 911 experience. 

• Prior contract, travel, or rapid-deployment EMS assignments. 

• Event medical coverage experience (sports, concerts, large gatherings). 

• Familiarity with tools such as First Due, Pulsara, or PowerDMS. 

• National Registry EMT certification. 

• Emergency vehicle operator certification (EVOC/CEVO). 

• Trauma certifications (PHTLS or ITLS). 

• Experience with diverse patient populations and community settings. 

Technical & Clinical Competencies
