Job Summary

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 7,500 students across its graduate and undergraduate programs. Located in a charming rural setting in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, the University is just a 20-minute drive from the metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and about an hour from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University seeks to hire employees with experience working with diverse populations.

Kutztown Universitys Counseling Center is currently accepting applications for full-time licensed mental health professionals to provide short-term counseling services for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Counseling Center is located in the student health center, reporting through the division of Student Affairs. Counselors utilize a solution-focused model and serve undergraduate and graduate students in a team-oriented setting. This is a non-teaching position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing in-person individual and group counseling.
  • Providing risk assessment and emergency intervention services.
  • Providing consultation services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Providing clinical supervision of graduate practicum students.
  • Providing referral services to external resources when a higher level of care is needed.
  • Developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informed outreach programs on a variety of

topics.

  • Collaborating with various campus partners and participating in campus service opportunities.

The Counseling Center is open Monday-Friday with hours varying between 8:30 am -7:00 pm. Some evening availability until 7:00 pm is required.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth and professional development; and service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A masters degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Unencumbered PA licensure (LPC, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist).
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience providing counseling to young adult populations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency through work experience with individuals and communities of color; LGBTQ+ individuals; working with people of various abilities, faiths/non-faith, ethnic backgrounds, and other diverse populations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical setting working as a licensed counselor.
  • Previous experience providing counseling services to college students in a university counseling center is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and management.
  • LCADC/CAADC and experience completing drug and alcohol assessments.
