Description of Job Duty:

The Tennessee Tech Center for Addiction Prevention and Support (CAPS) is looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist to join its team. This position will involve providing outpatient mental health and substance use disorder services, with a focus on serving adults with mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. The therapist will work in a community-based clinic, offering evidence-based treatments and supporting the educational mission of CAPS by collaborating with social work students. This role is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the community and contribute to the development of future social workers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and underserved communities.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in outpatient behavioral health or community mental health settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with telehealth service delivery is an asset.
  • Supervision or mentorship experience with social work students or trainees is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based modalities such as CBT, MI, ACT, and DBT.
  • Commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to adults with mental health and substance use concerns.
  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Monitor client progress, revise treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention when needed.
  • Coordinate care with community providers and medical professionals.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing clinic policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Supervise and train Master of Social Work students during their clinical practica.
  • Engage in outreach and educational activities to promote the mission of CAPS.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Establish therapeutic rapport and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
