Position Purpose
This position provides optimal patient care utilizing knowledge and skills within the context of the nursing process. The incumbent is accountable for individualized patient outcomes over an entire episode of care. The incumbent provides comprehensive nursing services to newborn children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients including their families/caregivers.
Nature and Scope
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 3 NICU with a 49-bed unit for newborns born prematurely, those needing specialized treatment, or those who are sick. An in-house neonatologist is available around the clock to provide the most advanced evidence-based care for our tiniest population. Babies in the NICU are cared for in state-of-the-art Giraffe OmniBeds, which are specialized isolettes and infant warmers all-in-one, reducing the stress on the baby. We take babies from 23ish weeks gestation to post-term babies.

We have a neonatal transport team that brings infants with serious illnesses, injuries, or complications to Renown Childrens Hospital from outlying communities within a 200-mile radius of Reno. Ambulances and planes with neonatal care equipment take the team to rural areas to begin treatment and bring the child to the safety and comfort of Renowns NICU.
Must have 1.5-2 years NICU experience to apply. We cover all northern NV area including Lake Tahoe, Tonopah, Oregon, and Idaho borders.

Education | Must have working-level knowledge of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Nevada.
Experience | At least 3-4 years of experience working under RN license is required. 3 years of experience working in a level 3 NICU or higher preferred.
Licenses | Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license. State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst (POCA) license required within 120 days of hire.
Certifications | Current BLS certification by The American Heart Association standards.

- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy training per ASCO standards within 1 year of hire required for department 200113.
- RNFA (RN may perform in the capacity of a first assist if he or she is a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing).
- Completion of a RNFA program that includes didactic and supervised clinical practice is based on AORNs core curriculum for the RNFA.
