About the Position

The Temporary Mail Courier will play a vital role in ensuring seamless operations across the organization. This position involves collaborating with multiple departments and providing support as needed. The Temporary Mail Courier will coordinate incoming ballots and correspondence for the Early Voting Division and support interdepartmental deliveries safely and efficiently in the Recorder's Office. This cross-functional position will also support divisional operations within early voting (Signature Verification, Curing, etc.). The ideal candidate will be adaptable, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have the ability to learn new tasks quickly. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad experience within the organization and contribute to various initiatives.

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering over elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. We Require

Six (6) months of clerical and/or customer service experience

High School diploma or GED

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications.

Other Requirements

One (1) year of experience driving a twenty-six-foot box truck with a lift gate

Must complete the County Vehicle Operating Training

Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Must be eligible to vote in Arizona

Must successfully complete the next scheduled Secretary of State Election Officer Certification

Ability to develop and implement continuous quality improvement strategies

We Also Value

One (1) year working in a distribution or mailroom setting

One (1) year of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties

Associate's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field

One (1) year of Election experience

Job Contributions

Manages the sorting and distribution of all incoming mail and ballots, creating a standardized and efficient process for staff

Securely assist in transporting ballots and other election material in the Election vehicles

Confirms and maintains delivery receipts of delivered mail for audit purposes

Serve as a flexible resource, providing support to different departments as needed based on workload and organizational priorities

Depending on departmental needs, assist with a variety of tasks, including administrative support, data entry, project coordination, and customer service

Proactively learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities and departmental needs in a fast-paced environment

Evaluates, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and processes relating to early voting logistics in compliance with state statutes and federal election laws

Determines the department/recipient for whom the mail is intended when necessary

Ensure the health and safety practices are in place and the work area is maintained to avoid accidents

Working Conditions

Requires lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 lbs. Bending, stooping, standing, sitting, and using hand dexterity, vision, and mathematical reasoning in an office environment

Operates county vehicles to safely transport election employees, materials, and supplies between election sites
