Position Summary Information

The department of Computer Science is accepting applications for part-time instructor responsible for teaching undergraduate computer science courses on an as-needed basis. The Computer Science Department at times needs temporary part-time Instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals or leaves. The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as-needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not immediately hired, your application will remain in the departments pool of qualified faculty.

A complete application will include:

  • Cover letter describing qualifications for the position
  • Current curriculum vitae or professional resume
  • Copies of registrar-issued transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress
  • Two letters of professional reference dated within the last 12 months

Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or closely-related discipline
  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or closely-related discipline or extensive industry experience in programming or software engineering
  • Course work in computer science beyond the level of the course being taught
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations
  • Successful interview
  • Successful teaching demonstration for class teaching assignments
  • Successful completion of three background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or closely-related discipline
  • Prior college-level teaching experience
