Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists or conducts fire and general safety inspections, utilizing the State of New Jersey Uniform Fire Code as a guide.
- Documents fire safety violations found and communicates these violations to the appropriate University department personnel responsible for correcting same.
- Assists or follows up with the appropriate University department representatives to ensure all violations have been corrected within an established period of time.
- Works with the Fire Safety Team on annual testing for all fire detection and suppression systems within the University system.
- Follows up with the appropriate contracted vendor on any fire detection and fire suppression related deficiencies.
- Collects, analyses and reports data about alarms and violations to assist the department.
- Participates or assists with fire safety education programs to promote fire safety within the Rowan University community.
- Participates in the scheduling and execution of mandatory emergency evacuation drills, as required by the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to them by EHS or Fire Safety.
- May be required to help with misc. or as needed EHS Department work when instructed.
Rate: $24 per hour
Hours:
- This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.
