Temporary Patient Service Representative to join its fast-paced office. With more than 80 locations, the organization is looking for a healthcare professional with prior medical office experience, strong customer service skills, and an interest in career growth.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $21/hr
Position Overview: The Temporary Patient Service Representative will support front-office operations by managing patient interactions, scheduling logistics, and serving as a liaison between physicians, patients, and clinical teams. The ideal candidate can work well under pressure, take initiative, and provide a welcoming experience while supporting the Office Manager.
Responsibilities of the Temporary Patient Service Representative:- Assist the manager with maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for supplies as needed.
- Answer or refer inquiries appropriately.
- Perform patient intake and check-out procedures.
- Obtain all appropriate patient consent forms.
- Schedule patient visits and tests.
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances.
- Maintain a general understanding of billing and insurance processes.
- Verify insurance information, benefits, referrals, and eligibility.
- Request prior authorizations.
- Interface with commercial and federal/state payers to verify patient coverage.
- Enter patient data into PMS and EMR systems.
- File medical charts.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Assist other administrative and clinical staff as needed.
- Comply with all practice procedures and protocols.
- Provide immediate service recovery by taking ownership of issues, resolving them when appropriate, and escalating to the Office Manager or Front Desk Supervisor when necessary.
- Provide patients with and interpret patient rights and responsibilities.
Required Experience/Skills for the Temporary Patient Service Representative:- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Previous medical office experience required.
- Ability to commute to other local offices as needed.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temporary Patient Service Representative:- 3 years of experience in a medical office setting.
- Experience utilizing EMR systems.
Education Requirements:- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
