Garfield County Hospital District is looking for a Temporary Patient Services Representative for three to six months who will also be helping with special projects. Under general supervision this position serves as a pivotal frontline figure in a hospital setting.

The Temporary Patient Services Representative plays a crucial role in managing the flow of information, ensuring that patients are directed to the appropriate departments, and maintaining a welcoming and organized reception area. This position will be helping with scheduled leave in our admitting team and moving our paper files to digital records.

As the face of the hospital, they must exhibit a compassionate demeanor and a calm, professional attitude, reflecting the hospitals commitment to exceptional patient care and services.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be adept at:

  • Greeting patients and visitors, providing directions and answering inquiries
  • Operate a multi-line telephone, directing calls as appropriate
  • Work within an electronic medical records system
  • Ensure accuracy in patient and billing information
  • Understand and verify patient insurance and benefit coverages
  • Collect and process co-pays and account payments
  • Update and maintain patient records
  • Maintain confidentiality

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, basic computer and software knowledge, general knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. Minimum of one year experience in a customer service or medical billing, preferable in a medical environment.
