Position Overview and Responsibilities
A temporary Postdoctoral Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth Humphries within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program at OMRF to study the intersection of glycolytic regulation and electrophysiology. Studies will focus on the PFKFB2-regulated fructose-2,6-bisphosphate axis and its downstream effects on mitochondrial biology, redox signaling, and Ca²? handling in the heart, with particular emphasis on how disruption of this pathway contributes to arrhythmogenic phenotypes and cardiac dysfunction. This is a mentored position for postdoctoral training.
Incumbents at this level are responsible for the following:
• Planning, designing and conducting research experiments
• Managing research projects
• Preparing reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research
• Contributing to grant writing
• Encouraged to write applications for fellowships
There is potential for qualified applicants to be accepted onto an NIA-funded T32 training grant fellowship.
