Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager, provides pharmaceutical services to outpatient and short stay departments. In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the supervision of the department and the purchase of pharmaceuticals.

Essential Functions

Plans, organizes, and assists with the direction of all Pharmacy activities.

Maintains current knowledge of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), State Public Health and Board of Pharmacy standards and maintains compliance with such standards.

Participates in inspections, completes various survey reports, makes recommended changes, and documents and reports on changes accomplished. Consults with Executive Director of University Health Services and legal counsel in any pharmacy liability matters.

Performs all the duties of a pharmacist, supervises pharmacy technicians, provides patient education, dispenses narcotics, maintains inventory and completes necessary reports for the DEA.

Serves as liaison between pharmacy and the Department of Public Health.

Maintains knowledge of all applicable federal and state laws and regulation and provides for compliance.

Supports and implements affirmative action and non-discrimination policies and procedures and contributes to related departmental goals.

Coordinates the pharmacy programs for both Hampshire and Amherst Colleges.

Monitors and inspects docu-med cabinets and emergency crash carts on a continuing basis.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Performs the role of acting Pharmacy Manager in the Manager's absence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and 5 years of progressively responsible pharmacy experience OR Pharm. D. and 1 year of experience.

Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.

Knowledge of hospital and hospital outpatient pharmacy practices.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with various categories of health professionals and consumers.

Able to accommodate pharmacy hours.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a laboratory or healthcare setting and may involve exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases. Requires standing for extended periods of time and/or use of protective gear.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

8 - 40 hours per week; intermittent as needed

Salary Information

Hourly Rate: $53.00-$58.00 per hour
