Job Description

Temporary MSP Project Manager

Location: Seattle, Washington Area
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Engagement: Temporary Contract—Approximately Two Months
Schedule: To Be Confirmed

Position Overview

A growing Managed Service Provider is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide immediate, short-term support following a sudden increase in project activity.

This person will bring structure, visibility, and accountability to several internal initiatives. The primary focus will be process documentation, cross-team communication, project tracking, and ensuring priorities continue moving forward without placing additional administrative pressure on technical leadership.

This is not a deeply technical engineering role. However, experience working within an MSP, IT services company, or similarly fast-paced professional-services environment is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage several internal initiatives simultaneously from planning through completion
  • Establish clear project scopes, objectives, timelines, owners, and deliverables
  • Build and maintain project plans, trackers, status reports, and action-item logs
  • Facilitate project meetings and document decisions, responsibilities, and next steps
  • Maintain consistent communication among leadership, technical teams, and other stakeholders
  • Identify project dependencies, risks, bottlenecks, and scheduling conflicts
  • Follow up with project owners to maintain accountability and forward progress
  • Create, organize, and improve internal process documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Help prioritize projects based on urgency, business impact, available resources, and dependencies
  • Provide leadership with concise updates regarding progress, risks, and decisions needed
  • Ensure completed work is documented and properly transitioned to internal ownership
  • Introduce repeatable project-management practices that remain useful after the engagement concludes

Initial Engagement Priorities

During the approximately two-month assignment, the Project Manager will be expected to:

  • Assess the current portfolio of internal projects
  • Establish a centralized view of priorities, owners, deadlines, and project status
  • Identify stalled or at-risk initiatives
  • Improve communication and follow-through across participating teams
  • Document key business processes and project workflows
  • Create a practical system the internal team can continue using after the engagement

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of project-management or service-delivery experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities
  • Strong experience creating process documentation, project plans, and executive-level status updates
  • Excellent meeting facilitation, communication, organization, and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently and become productive quickly
  • Comfortable holding stakeholders accountable while maintaining positive working relationships
  • Proficiency with common project-management and collaboration platforms
  • Experience within an MSP, IT services, staff-augmentation, or professional-services organization strongly preferred
  • PMP, CAPM, Scrum, ITIL, or related certification is beneficial but not required

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a calm, organized operator who can enter a busy environment, quickly understand what is in motion, and create order without introducing unnecessary complexity.

This person must be comfortable working with both leadership and technical teams, asking thoughtful questions, uncovering missing information, and ensuring that commitments turn into completed work.

Measures of Success

Success in this engagement will include:

  • Improved visibility across all assigned projects
  • Clearly documented owners, deadlines, risks, and next steps
  • More consistent communication between teams
  • Reduced project delays and unresolved action items
  • Completed or substantially advanced internal initiatives
  • Organized process documentation and a sustainable project-management framework
