We would like to announce the opening for one (1) temporary summer position with the Castle Rock School District in our maintenance department. This position may be up to eight (8) hours per day, three (3) days per week for approximately 4-6 weeks. This position will begin as soon as paperwork and fingerprint background clearance has been completed. Regular attendance is a requirement and person must be self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management; high school graduate; fingerprint background check required at own expense upon hire.

Preference in hiring is given to current PSE members. Seniority rights will be exercised according to Article X, Section 10.5 of the PSE Negotiated Agreement.

General Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the maintenance supervisor, provides a safe, sanitary, and healthy environment for students, district personnel and community members.

Essential Functions (to include but not limited to):

  1. Moves furniture including chairs, desks, tables as directed

  2. Cleans buildings as directed

  3. Performs weeding, groundskeeping as directed

  4. Brings supplies to buildings when needed

  5. Must be able to perform assignments with minimum supervision.

  6. Must be able to demonstrate a pride of craftsmanship in work.

  7. Maintains adequate stock of supplies and equipment as directed.

  8. Reports immediately all hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions.

  9. Safely cleans, handles and disposes of body fluids including blood, etc.

  10. Follows all hazardous chemical warning labels, MSDS and written hazard communication programs.

  11. Maintains a record of regular attendance, arrives and departs at specified times and notifies appropriate personnel when they must be absent.

  12. Drive to buildings in the district and to pick up supplies and/or equipment as needed from local vendors

Other Functions:

  1. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Demonstrated ability to work from ladders, scaffolding and other high lift equipment.

  3. Demonstrated ability to work outdoors in inclement weather for prolonged periods of time.

  4. Demonstrated ability to work within a team concept.

  5. Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks without direct supervision.

  6. A positive attitude.

  7. Effective interpersonal skills.

  8. Effective oral and written communication skills.

  9. Criminal history fingerprint clearance through the Washington State Patrol and FBI at employee's expense.

  10. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Recent successful maintenance experience in education setting.

  2. Demonstrated ability to relate to supervisors/administrators.

  3. Valid first aid card.

Terms of Employment:

This position is temporary. Pay will be $25.01-28.01per hour.
