HOURS: 5 hours per day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Dates: Program dates-June 30, 2026 to July 30, 2026

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the operation and management of the school cafeteria as directed by the Director of Food Service and the Principal respectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous food service experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Good organizational and communications skills.
  • Good attendance record
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Ability to get along with others
  • Willingness to perform manual tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have means of transportation to and from work
  • Must be ServSafe certified

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

May include, but not limited to:

  • Manages the operation of kitchen and serving areas.
  • Orders and purchases food supplies.
  • Supervises kitchen personnel.
  • Determines and records hours of work for kitchen personnel.
  • Maintains accounts of money and supplies and prepares money for banking as required by the business office.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and reports.
  • Coordinates meal services to summer meal programs
  • Cooperates with various inspections and consulting agencies: Wayne County Health Dept. and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
  • Serving and/or packaging food
  • Preparation and processing of raw or fully cooked meats, pre-packaged and ready to eat foods, and/or fresh produce
  • Cleaning of kitchen and equipment
  • Washing dishes
  • Bending, lifting, and overhead work required
  • Other tasks as assigned by Food & Nutrition Department leadership

RATE OF PAY: $18.36

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
