Job Description

JOB TITLE: Temporary Technology Assistant

POSITION TYPE: Temporary Classified Position

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires competent skills in all aspects of technology. Preferred skills include:

  • Strong communication and teamwork.
  • Internet/Intranet support experience, including protocols and security.
  • Productivity client application and educational software support experience.
  • Networking equipment experience including switches, routers, hubs, wireless and copper NICs and wireless access points.
  • Experience in design, implementation and maintenance of effective LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Administration utilities experience.
  • Maintenance and trouble-shooting of computer hardware, applications and operating systems.
  • Strives to produce quality work with strong attention to details.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operational Technology

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in maintaining, enhancing and supporting various Windows, Google Chrome, Android, iOS, OSX and Linux environments and data networks that connect them together, including LAN and WAN communications and security.
  • Installs, maintains, and supports PC/LAN and network equipment for file, print, SCCM, surveillance servers and services and domain controllers.
  • Repairs network equipment, monitors, diagnoses, upgrades and resolves network problems.
  • Provides technical expertise in the area of desktop operating systems and software applications.
  • Manages maintenance for district hardware (including peripherals) and software including assessment, repair, installation, configuration and cleaning of network, terminals, and telco systems.
  • Communicates technical information to staff.
  • Assists in administering the district's e-rate program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operational Technology.
  • Able to perform job tasks as follows:
  • Lift and carry 10-50 lbs. frequently.
  • Assist with lifting 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Load and unload products from vehicles of various heights from 3-5 feet.
  • Use push and pull methods to move products in the work area.
  • Store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
  • Crawl into narrow spaces.
  • Work from an awkward position to accomplish cleaning of equipment.
  • Be on feet the majority of the work shift.
  • Be of general good health.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high.
  • The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary leave-of-absence coverage position. Employment will continue for the duration of the employee leave or until district staffing needs change. The end date of this assignment is currently unknown. The terms of employment for this position shall be subject to applicable Board policies and procedures governing temporary classified employees.

SCHEDULE: The working schedule will be determined by the Superintendent with input from the Director of Operational Technology. This position will require willingness to work flexible hours that may include evenings or weekends.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: As established and approved by the Board of Directors and in accordance with applicable district policies for temporary employees.

EVALUATION: Conducted by the Director of Operational Technology as appropriate for the duration of the assignment.
