Job Description:
The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) at the University of Florida invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position (who currently has tenure) starting August 2027. We seek an energetic scholar with an active research program centered on any aspect of media and technology.
We welcome candidates from a broad range of methodological traditions and theoretical perspectives. While the research program is open to any domain within media and technology, the candidate must be prepared to teach RTV 3432: Ethics and Problems in Media, a core course serving undergraduate majors in both Digital Film and Video Production and Media Management and Technology.
Research & Teaching Responsibilities
Conduct original research that advances scholarly understanding of media and/or technology including, but not limited to:
media infrastructure
technology practices
sports media and communication
media systems
platform studies
entertainment media
digital culture and strategy
social/mobile media
science and technology studies
Teach undergraduate core courses, specifically RTV 3432: Ethics and Problems in Media, bridging ethical, regulatory, and societal issues across both creative production and strategic media management contexts and other courses in the department, with opportunities to develop specialized upper-level electives and graduate seminars.
Pursue internal and external research funding.
Publish in leading academic venues.
Mentor students and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.
