Description

The Department of International Affairs in the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor at its College Station campus. The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2027. The Department of International Affairs is one of three departments in the Bush School of Government and Public Service. The successful candidate will be an expert in international affairs related to the Middle East and have experience teaching required courses in International Relations theory and American foreign policy. The position carries a 2/2 teaching load with four courses per academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include elective courses focused on Middle East affairs and required courses focused on International Relations theory and American Foreign Policy. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and produce a research portfolio that would merit tenure under Texas A&M University's standard tenure and promotion process. A reasonable amount of departmental and professional service is also expected.

Key Responsibilities

Research

• Maintain an active scholarly research agenda related to Middle Eastern affairs.
• Produce peer-reviewed research sufficient to meet tenure expectations within the standard tenure timeline.

Teaching

• Teach four courses per academic year (2/2 load) including BA and MA courses in the Department of International Affairs.
• Develop and deliver at least two elective courses related to Middle Eastern affairs.
• Help teach required courses in International Relations theory and/or American foreign policy, as needed and appropriate.

Service

• Provide a reasonable level of departmental and professional service consistent with rank and tenure-track expectations.
• Contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the Department of International Affairs and the Bush School.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated teaching expertise in international affairs.
• Scholarly focus on Middle Eastern affairs.
