We seek to make an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the health humanities or critical social sciences of health, including but not limited to medical anthropology and the history of medicine. Candidates in closely-related interdisciplinary fields (for example, gender studies, science and technology studies, comparative literature, ethnic studies, area studies, etc.) are also encouraged to apply if their training, research, and teaching competences align with Health Studies. The geographic area of focus is open, though candidates working in the Global South or on global health are strongly encouraged to apply. The record of research and teaching should demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinarity and critical inquiry, facility with relevant social theory, and attention to intersections between race, racism, and racialization; gender, gender identity, and sexuality; economic inequality and social stratification; disability and difference; linguistic, cultural, and religious diversity; and/or nationality, citizenship, migration, and belonging.

Candidates should hold an earned doctorate in a humanities or social science discipline, or a closely-related interdisciplinary field, to be completed by the time of appointment. We seek scholars who can teach and mentor undergraduate students with a range of academic interests, experiences, and backgrounds. Candidates must be able to teach Introduction to Health Studies, an intermediate survey course in their subfield, and advanced undergraduate seminars in their areas of expertise.
