The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder is currently seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The department and college are particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. This position will be hired at the Assistant Professor rank.

Ranked 11th among public universities for its graduate program and 11th for its undergraduate program by US News, the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is a world-class department with 38 faculty members, approximately 42 postdoctoral and other research associates, 137 graduate students, and 401 undergraduate students. The department has a proud tradition of academic excellence. We have two robust ABET-accredited undergraduate degree programs, where the emphasis is on interactive learning, computer applications, a wide variety of interdisciplinary options, and undergraduate research. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in their technical area that synergizes with others in the University of Colorado system (the search is open with respect to area); contribute professional leadership and service to the department, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.
• The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.

• The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2027; however, a later start date may be negotiated.
• Candidates whose expertise cuts across engineering and related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.
• The University of Colorado Boulder has implemented a reference check program with respect to final candidates for tenured faculty appointments. The reference check program is intended to allow CU Boulder to collect and review information about a candidate's conduct at their current and previous institutions, specifically conduct related to sexual misconduct, harassment, and/or discrimination, before making hiring decisions. • The anticipated academic year salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $120,000-$130,000.
• A relocation stipend may be available within CEAS guidelines.

Applicants must have earned a research doctorate or equivalent degree in chemical engineering, biological engineering, bioengineering, or a related field, and have their degree conferred before starting a tenure-track faculty appointment.

Applicants should describe their plans to develop a recognized research program based on scholarly work in their particular field, their ideas for interdisciplinary collaboration, and their plans for inspiring diverse students to conduct research.
• A Statement of Teaching Philosophy: A statement of your experience and plans for teaching and mentoring a diverse student body. Applicants should describe their ideas for interdisciplinary collaboration, their experience and interests in teaching undergraduates and graduates, and their plans for inspiring diverse students (2-3 pages).
• Leadership, Service and Community Contributions Statement: In this statement, describe your leadership and service experience, and demonstrated ability to contribute to a supportive campus community. Please provide details on your track record, calibrated to your career stage, that describe the specific role you played in these efforts. These could include, but are not limited to service on committees, outreach activities to broaden engagement in or with engineering, or serving on advisory boards or task forces contributing to policies or regulations. In addition, describe your plans to contribute to our campus plan to Create Supportive Environments, and the College of Engineering and Applied Science Strategic Vision (1-2 pages).
