Description
We seek applicants for a a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Phlebotomy with the Colleges Health Sciences division. This is a 9-month position anticipated to begin Spring 2027. There is an optional additional assignment as the Course Coordinator.
The primary duty of faculty members is to teach. In addition to teaching, class preparation, grading, and holding office hours, general responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The hired individual may be expected to teach a range of courses as assigned.
Requirements
Associate degree or higher in a related health field
At least one of the following:
Licensure or certification in a related field from a certified phlebotomist agency such as: American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Phlebotomy Association
Certified or Registered Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)(RMA)
Licensed registered nurse (RN)
Minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience as a phlebotomist technician or in a directly related field
Availability to teach daytime and/or evening courses
Ability to work effectively and inclusively with diverse populations of students, colleagues, and community partners

Anticipated starting salary range for this 9-month position is $48,356 - $65,034, plus any applicable pay for overload and/or summer assignments.

THIS POSITION IS BASED IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND ABILITY TO BE PRESENT ON-CAMPUS/IN-PERSON IS REQUIRED. HCC IS A MULTI-CAMPUS COLLEGE AND THIS POSITION MAY INCLUDE TEACHING AT A VARIETY OF SITES.

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Sick Leave: 10 days per year, pro-rated from employment date
If hired in August, 10 days (80 hours) of sick leave awarded on start date; If hired in January, 5 days (40
hours) of sick leave awarded on start date;
Monthly accrual in subsequent years starting every August
Awarded 16 hours of sick leave for teaching 6 or more ECH in Summer term; Awarded 8 hours of sick
leave for teaching 3-5 ECH in Summer term
Personal Leave: 5 days (40 hours) per year, pro-rated from employment date
Unused personal leave converts to sick leave days at the end of employment year
Volunteer Leave: 1 day (8 hours) per year with no annual carry-over
8 hours awarded on start date, then annually awarded at the start of the calendar year on January 1
Bereavement Leave: Up to 5 days (40 hours) per occurrence
Parental Leave: 4 weeks (160 hours) for qualifying events, once per 12-month rolling period
Holidays: The College is closed on the following holidays:
Labor Day, Election Day (Presidential Election years only), Wednesday through Friday of Thanksgiving week, Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day inclusively, Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and Independence Day
