Job Title: Senior Teradata Data Warehouse Architect

Overview / Summary

We are seeking an experienced Teradata Data Warehouse Architect to support the MDHHS Data Warehouse environment. This role is responsible for data warehouse architecture, ETL support, security, change management, system maintenance, data quality, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable data availability for critical business processes. The position works closely with development teams, leadership, stakeholders, and vendor partners within a collaborative, established team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure reliable data availability for critical business processes and decision-making.
  • Manage Data Warehouse change management infrastructure, including code and DDL promotions through manual and automated processes.
  • Perform build engineer tasks for code promotion processes.
  • Manage the Linux security model for Data Warehouse ETL servers, including authorization of user access, groups, and sudo permissions.
  • Manage Teradata security and user access.
  • Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data architecture, processes, and solutions.
  • Provide support for escalated Data Warehouse troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Evaluate and recommend data technologies and tools to improve performance and scalability.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets.
  • Support data integration processes, including ETL workflows across multiple source systems.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and third-party service providers.
  • Support patch management, system upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues across data platforms.
  • Perform data profiling and implement data quality rules for assessment and validation.
  • Execute data cleansing and standardization using built-in and custom data rules.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for data systems.
  • Lead migration of data warehouse processes to standardized/common frameworks.
  • Conduct elevated access reviews and user audits to ensure compliance.
  • Identify and remediate audit findings related to data systems and security.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Teradata experience.
  • Experience supporting the loading of data from multiple source systems.
  • Ability to provide targeted training and technical guidance to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Linux experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills while adhering to SoM and MDHHS/DTMB policies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex data and system issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous government experience or State of Michigan experience.
  • Experience with cloud-based BI tools.
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
