The Department of Computer Science of the College of Engineering(CoEgr) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has a term faculty(non-tenure-track) opening at all ranks. As part of a premier research university situated in Virginia’s capitalcity, VCU’s computer science department has bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoralprograms and collaborates closely with many VCU schools and departmentsincluding numerous health care investigations with researchers on VCU’s MCVcampus. The College of Engineering is in an extensive growthstage, significantly increasing the number of its faculty as student enrollmentrises. Embarked on rapid growth, the computer science department currently has 23tenure-track, tenured and term faculty members.

This is ateaching-intensive, 9-month position renewable annually. Teachingresponsibilities may include both undergraduate and graduate courses in allareas of Computer Science. Other responsibilities will include course andcurriculum development, advising students, and serving on committees. Facultymember is expected to provide high quality instruction and to develop newcourses as necessary.

Requiredqualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach computer science coursesat the undergraduate level. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering anenvironment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population offaculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. An M.S.in computer science or a closely related discipline is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:
-A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related area.
-Experience teaching courses in basic programming languages
-Expertise to teach in AI or cybersecurity related areas
-The ability to supervise capstone design projects
-Willingness to engage in training grant proposals
