Terminal Manager – Chemical Transloading OperationsLocation: Baltimore, MDStarting Salary: $72,000 annually, negotiable based on experienceJob Type: Full-time | On-siteLead Safe, Efficient Terminal OperationsRoad & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Terminal Manager to oversee daily transloading operations in Baltimore, Maryland. This position is well suited for a hands-on leader with experience in chemical handling, chemical manufacturing, bulk liquid operations, industrial production, rail terminals, or a related field.The Terminal Manager is responsible for the safety, productivity, and financial performance of the facility. You will lead terminal employees while ensuring products are transferred safely and accurately between railcars, tanker trucks, and other approved storage or transportation equipment.This is an active operations position-not a strictly office-based management role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors, inspecting the facility, coaching employees in the field, responding to operational issues, and assisting the team when necessary.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect the daily activities of terminal and transloading employeesCoordinate the safe transfer of chemical, liquid, dry-bulk, food-grade, and other customer productsEnsure employees follow product-specific loading, unloading, grounding, bonding, sampling, and securement proceduresMaintain compliance with company, customer, OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, and site-specific requirementsConduct safety meetings, job briefings, facility inspections, and employee trainingConfirm proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical-handling proceduresMonitor product quality, transfer accuracy, seal controls, and contamination-prevention practicesEnsure hoses, pumps, valves, fittings, containment systems, and transfer equipment are inspected and maintainedRespond to spills, leaks, equipment failures, and other operational concerns according to established proceduresManage staffing, scheduling, attendance, productivity, and employee performanceMaintain accurate transfer logs, manifests, inspection reports, training records, and customer documentationMonitor operating expenses and support budget and profit-and-loss objectivesCommunicate regularly with customers, drivers, railroad representatives, vendors, and company leadershipInvestigate safety, quality, and service issues and implement corrective actionsSupport physical terminal work and transloading activities when operationally necessaryQualificationsAt least two years of management or supervisory experienceExperience managing budgets, operating expenses, or P&L performanceStrong knowledge of workplace safety and industrial operating proceduresAbility to lead employees, enforce standards, and make timely operational decisionsStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work flexible hours when required by terminal or customer needsComfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, and changing conditionsAbility to climb railcars and ladders, walk on uneven surfaces, and assist with physical dutiesAbility to wear required PPE, which may include chemical-resistant clothing and respiratory protectionChemical worker, chemical operator, chemical manufacturing, bulk liquid transfer, hazardous-material handling, tanker loading, or chemical terminal experience is a plus.Experience in transloading, railroad operations, terminal management, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, petroleum, or industrial processing will also be considered.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary of $72,000 annually, negotiable based on relevant experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company matchingPaid holidays and vacationAnnual safety bonus opportunitiesCareer advancement through a promote-from-within cultureAbout Road & Rail ServicesSince 1987, Road & Rail Services has provided specialized rail, logistics, maintenance, and terminal-support services throughout North America.
