Fuel Ethanol Terminal Operator

Long standing and reputable shipper of alternative fuel is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Fuel Ethanol Terminal Operator to join our team. The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the fuel ethanol receiving, storage, and truck-loading terminal.
This position will work across the rail receiving area, fuel storage facilities, and truck-loading infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform hands-on operational and maintenance activities, monitor equipment and systems, maintain a safe work environment, and provide professional service to truck drivers, contractors, and other terminal users.
Key Responsibilities
Terminal Operations
- Safely operate and monitor terminal equipment, pumps, valves, loading systems, and related infrastructure.
- Receive fuel ethanol through the rail system and transfer product to storage facilities.
- Load fuel ethanol safely and efficiently into trucks.
- Monitor operating conditions and equipment to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operations.
- Perform routine inspections, readings, sampling, and operational checks.
- Follow established operating procedures and respond appropriately to abnormal operating conditions.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Make safety the highest priority in all terminal activities.
- Follow company policies, operating procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable safety regulations.
- Conduct routine safety and equipment inspections.
- Identify and promptly report unsafe conditions, hazards, spills, leaks, or equipment issues.
- Participate in emergency response, safety training, and drills.
- Maintain required HazMat certification and comply with all hazardous-material handling requirements.
Customer & Contractor Service
- Interact professionally with truck drivers, contractors, rail personnel, and other terminal users.
- Provide clear instructions and information regarding terminal procedures and requirements.
- Enforce terminal safety and operating rules.
- Address customer or operational issues promptly and professionally.
- Work to maintain a high level of customer and owner satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Sufficient education and experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Previous experience in terminal operations, industrial operations, manufacturing, transportation, maintenance, agriculture, oil and gas, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with standard maintenance methods, materials, tools, and safe work practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Ability to follow written and verbal procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively with a team.
- Basic laboratory processes and product sampling experience are desirable.
- Familiarity with common hand tools is preferred.
- HazMat certification is required; training will be provided.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to regularly walk, stand, bend, climb, and work around industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work around fuel ethanol and other industrial equipment while following required safety procedures.
- Willingness to perform hands-on operational, maintenance, and housekeeping duties.
- Ability to work a schedule that may include weekends, holidays, overtime, or other hours as required by terminal operations.
