About the Position

An established equine equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Territory Sales Manager to oversee the New England Territory. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional who understands consultative selling and is comfortable working with horse owners, builders, architects, and other key decision-makers. You'll be given the freedom and flexibility to design your schedule, allowing you to maximize your time on the road. Because the role includes both sales and project oversight, candidates should also have enough technical capacity to be able to review project specifications, suggest solutions to customers, and coordinate effectively with internal design teams from inquiry through completion.
Approximately 50% travel throughout the territory is expected to build and maintain strong customer and industry relationships.
Job Duties
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan designed to increase market share, achieve revenue targets, and support continued regional growth.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with builders, architects, horse owners, equine professionals, and other key decision-makers throughout the territory.
- Attend industry events for networking purposes including horse shows, trade shows, and equestrian community gatherings at your discretion.
- Manage and qualify incoming leads, maintain appropriate follow-up sequences, and guide prospective customers through a consultative sales process.
- Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate stall systems, barn components, hardware, and related products.
- Oversee projects within the assigned region, including product application, hardware requirements, documentation review, and coordination with the internal sales team.
- Review specifications, blueprints, and project documentation for accuracy and alignment with applicable industry standards, building codes, and local ordinances.
- Serve as Project Manager on larger or more complex assignments when needed.
- Track and regularly report sales activity, performance metrics, and territory KPIs.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years proven outside sales experience required
- Considerable knowledge of the equine industry - including terminology, horse behaviors, and working barn operations
- Demonstrated success in B2B and B2C sales, account management, or customer service.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, project lists, and blueprints.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively use HubSpot CRM.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, project-management, and follow-through skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to protect confidential customer and company information.
- Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and profitability.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time throughout New England
