Test and balance technician

The Test and Balance Technician is a skilled professional responsible for ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently and within specified performance standards. Working independently, the technician uses advanced diagnostic instruments and manual tools to test, measure, and adjust components such as dampers and valves. The role involves minimal travel and requires precision in airflow and water flow measurement to optimize system performance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system testing to verify HVAC performance
• Perform air and water balancing by adjusting dampers and valves
• Calibrate equipment using specialized instruments
• Record and document test data accurately
• Generate detailed reports on system status and adjustments
• Ensure compliance with safety standards during all tasks
• Troubleshoot system issues to identify performance inefficiencies
• Climb ladders and access equipment in various locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in HVAC testing and balancing
• High school diploma or equivalent
• TAB (Test and Balance) certification
• Proficient in air and water balancing techniques
• Experienced with pressure and flow measurement
• Skilled in using testing instruments and manual tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Strong mechanical aptitude with keen attention to detail
• Effective problem-solving skills
