Akkodis is seeking a Test Automation Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in test automation development, TestComplete, JavaScript/VBScript, and source control management, along with a strong background in designing and implementing scalable automated testing solutions.

Rate Range: $50/hour to $53/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Test Automation Engineer Job Responsibilities Include:

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and reusable test suites for web applications, APIs, and enterprise software solutions.

• Define and drive test automation strategies, standards, best practices, and continuous testing methodologies across agile development teams.

• Develop and execute automated test scripts using TestComplete and scripting languages such as JavaScript, JScript, VBScript, or related technologies.

• Integrate automated testing solutions into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration, rapid validation, and high-quality software releases.

• Analyze test execution results, investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with developers to resolve defects and improve application quality.

• Lead test planning activities, mentor team members on automation best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance testing effectiveness and coverage.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• A minimum of ten years of experience in Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Test Automation Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related software testing roles.

• Strong hands-on experience with TestComplete (SmartBear) and automated GUI testing frameworks.

• Extensive development experience using JavaScript, JScript, VBScript, C#, or related programming and scripting languages.

• Experience working with source control and version management platforms including Git, TFS, and SVN.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using Playwright for modern web application test automation.

• Experience testing Angular-based web applications and supporting frontend application quality initiatives.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated build validation processes, and continuous testing strategies.

• Experience working with enterprise-scale automation frameworks, performance optimization, and quality metrics reporting.

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery principles.

• Industrial, manufacturing, or enterprise application experience is considered a plus but is not required.

Pay Details: $50.00 to $53.00 per hour
