Position Description

  • ENSCO Inc. is a diverse engineering and technology company that provides engineering, science, and advanced technology solutions supporting mission success, safety, and security for government and commercial customers worldwide.
  • We are seeking a Test Engineer to work with Government mission leaders, mission partners, and independently governed program teams delivering elements of a critical space mission capability. The role turns mission threads, interfaces, operational use, and integration commitments into focused tests and demonstrations that reveal whether separate program elements can operate together at the required time.
  • This position treats tests as a rapid learning mechanism. The engineer will help define the smallest body of evidence needed for the next decision, prepare and execute disciplined events, analyze results, and translate anomalies into clear technical and schedule consequences. The goal is to expose weak assumptions early, reduce late integration surprises, and keep the combined capability moving toward a common fielding window. Government decision owners retain all formal authority.
  • Primary Responsibilities·
  • Translate mission threads into testable outcomes. Convert operational scenarios, interfaces, data flows, expected behaviors, and mission effects into focused objectives, observable measures, and decision-relevant evidence.·         Build concise test products. Prepare test plans, procedures, checklists, data-collection approaches, readiness criteria, expected results, safety considerations, and event timelines for defined integration activities.·         Coordinate cross-program readiness. Work with program teams, system owners, cybersecurity teams, test organizations, operators, facilities, and data owners to confirm configurations, interfaces, resources, access, and entry criteria before each event.·         Execute mission-thread and interface events. Support system, digital, software, hardware, network, end-to-end, and operationally representative activities that test how independently developed capability elements work together.·         Protect evidence quality. Confirm instrumentation, time synchronization, logging, test data, configuration records, traceable observations, and repeatable methods so participating teams can trust the results.·         Analyze results quickly. Review logs, telemetry, messages, timing, performance measures, and operator observations; distinguish product defects from interface, configuration, environment, data, or procedure issues.·         Turn anomalies into decisions. Document what happened, mission impact, likely cause, confidence level, affected dependencies, immediate containment, next evidence needed, and the decision or commitment that may need to change.·         Maintain the rapid learning loop. Move results into defect reviews, integration decisions, architecture updates, readiness views, program actions, and follow-on events without allowing reports to become an end in themselves.·         Support synchronized delivery. Identify test findings that could require a program to accelerate, re-sequence, narrow scope, protect schedule margin, or deliberately pace work to preserve the shared integration window.·         Automate repeatable evidence. Develop or improve scripts, data checks, dashboards, regression tests, and repeatable test assets that shorten learning cycles and make interface health visible.·         Build trusted working relationships. Communicate facts without blame, listen to each team's constraints, protect sensitive program information, and follow through on commitments so test events strengthen cross-organizational trust.·         Support operational acceptance. Help connect technical evidence to user evaluation, training, infrastructure, cybersecurity, sustainment, continuity, and transition activities required for a usable fielded capability.

Qualifications Required:·         Bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, software engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, data science, information technology, or a closely related technical discipline, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.·         Relevant experience planning, executing, monitoring, or analyzing tests for software, hardware, networks, communications, cyber, space, mission, or other complex technical capabilities.·         Working knowledge of interfaces, data flows, protocols, expected behaviors, configurations, test environments, instrumentation, logging, and evidence collection.·         Ability to convert a defined mission thread or technical objective into test steps, observable measures, expected outcomes, readiness criteria, and a clear record of results.·         Ability to analyze test data and logs, identify anomalies and patterns, assess operational or integration impact, and communicate when additional evidence is required.·         Demonstrated ability to independently own a defined test activity, manage details, coordinate inputs, surface blockers early, and deliver accurate products on schedule under senior direction.·         Ability to collaborate across programs and organizations with different technical baselines, schedules, incentives, and levels of test maturity while maintaining a fact-based, mission-focused approach.·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise procedures, event notes, anomaly descriptions, evidence summaries, dashboards, and decision-focused briefings.·         Ability to work in a mission-driven hybrid environment in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and support periodic coordination or travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, as required.- AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION FOR WHICH, YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN

Qualifications Desired:·         Experience testing Satellite Control, telemetry, tracking and control, command and control, space-ground, mission management, or other space mission capabilities.·         Experience with system integration, software integration, hardware-in-the-loop environments, network test environments, interface simulators, digital integration environments, or operationally representative exercises.·         Experience with Python or another scripting language for test automation, data reduction, log analysis, message validation, visualization, dashboards, or regression checks.·         Experience with application programming interfaces, message standards, data models, timing, network protocols, cybersecurity controls, or modular open architecture interfaces.·         Experience using issue-tracking, configuration, version-control, test-management, continuous-integration, or automated evidence tools.·         Experience supporting integrated demonstrations, user evaluations, operational exercises, fielding events, or operational-acceptance activities involving multiple program teams.·         Exposure to commercial products, competitive prototyping, rapid capability maturation, or short learning cycles that use test evidence to support acquisition and portfolio decisions.·         Experience with test safety, cybersecurity test constraints, controlled data, laboratory operations, test-range coordination, or formal test readiness activities.·         Credentials in software testing, cybersecurity, networking, data analytics, cloud technologies, test automation, or project delivery.·         Current Top Secret or TS/SCI eligibility.
