Job Title: Test Engineer
Location: Vienna, VA
Work schedule: hybrid, onsite 3 days a week
Pay Rate: Open to W2 and established 1099's
Position Type: Multiyear Contract

We are looking for candidates with 2-5 years of experience (this is NOT a senior role).

This role is an entry-to-mid level Software Testing/QA Analyst position ( focused on validating software applications, performing regression and functional testing, and supporting system quality assurance efforts in a financial services environment. The candidate will help test new and existing systems, document issues, create and execute test cases, and work with stakeholders to ensure software functions correctly and complies with business requirements and policies. The role also involves reviewing documentation, tracking testing activities, and supporting software releases and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regression testing on new and existing applications
  • Conduct functional testing to validate system behavior and integrations
  • Create, update, and execute test cases
  • Identify, document, and help troubleshoot software defects
  • Analyze business and system requirements
  • Maintain testing logs and defect documentation
  • Review user documentation for accuracy
  • Collaborate with business users, developers, and project stakeholders
  • Support software enhancements, implementations, and releases

Required Skills & Qualifications (2–5 years experience)
Core Technical Skills
  • Functional testing
  • Regression testing
  • Test case creation and execution
  • Defect/bug tracking and documentation
  • Software QA methodologies
  • Understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Knowledge of project lifecycles and testing methodologies
  • Basic system and application troubleshooting

Preferred Tools/Knowledge
  • Test management tools (e.g., ALM, Jira, Quality Center, Azure DevOps)
  • Defect tracking systems
  • Basic SQL or database validation skills
  • Experience testing web-based or enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete regression tests of new and existing systems (legacy and vendor) functions on software when new or modified functions are introduced - Basic/Routine
  • Conduct functional tests to ensure the software is working properly, that they interface correctly with other systems and that appropriate reports are generated - Moderately complex/varied
  • Create and edit test cases in accordance with system requirements - Participates in
  • Identify and analyze business and system requirements (e.g. needs, objectives, functions, features, input and output) - Document problems, possible causes, and potential solutions - Moderate analysis
  • Work directly with appropriate stakeholders to understand project concepts, objectives and approach projects - Participates in
  • Maintain complete testing log including time spent testing, software or system problems encountered, testing time lost due to incomplete documentation/test plan or deficiencies of testing tools - Experience in
  • Review user documentation related to the tested systems' functions for accuracy prior to its dissemination. Identify discrepancies/errors and inform Software Testing Analysts - Moderate analysis
