TITLE:
Test Engineer P&C
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This job assignment will be in the Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services Substation Integration & Automation (SIA) group. The Test Engineer P&C position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor"s degree in engineering. This role involves hands-on experience with substation automation systems, including SCADA, RTU, and gateway solutions. The engineer will work closely with various teams to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of substation automation systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting substation integration and SCADA equipment, planning, and completing projects safely, efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. This position is primarily on-site and in the field.
- Design and develop substation network architecture for control systems.
- Configure and test substation automation systems, including RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Prepare engineering design documents, configuration files, and protection relay configurations.
- Support field installations and provide remote support for substation integration and automation equipment.
- Conduct site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for substation automation systems.
- Ensure safe working procedures and practices are followed at all times.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience commissioning and testing substation SCADA equipment
- Experience or training in microprocessor (IED) technology
- Experience or training in serial and Ethernet network communications
- Experience performing power system calculations and measurements
- Experience with substation relay protection and control equipment
- Experience with industrial control systems (PLCs, generation plant controls, industrial plant controls)
- Experience with basic AC & DC electrical systems
- Designing, configuring, and supporting substation Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) modifications and changes.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of safe work practices in substation or industrial environments
- Knowledge of control schemes and SCADA system operation
- Knowledge of serial and Ethernet communication software and protocols
- Knowledge of 3-phase power calculations and measurements
- Ability to use a computer to communicate with other microprocessor devices
- Ability to use spreadsheets and other computer productivity tools
- Ability to use a multimeter and hand tools in an electrical environment
- Knowledge of utility communication protocols such as IEC61850, OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 101, 104, TCP/IP.
- Proficiency in engineering and testing of control and protection relays for high and medium voltage switchgears.
- AutoCAD, MicroStation, AmpCalc, SDS for P&C, Autodesk Vault - Preferred
- SCADA connectivity: TCP/IP over CAT5 and Fiber, RS-232/485 - Preferred

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $47.00/hr.
