Test Engineer, Primary Sodium Pump

Job Title: Primary Sodium Pump Test Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Long-term Contract
Compensation: $52.00 - $85.00

Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary Test Engineer providing oversight and working with the PSP design organizations on Separate Effects, Integrated Effects, Water and Prototype tests and CVAP.
• Coordinate component vendor engineers working on requirements, systems, components, and testing plans for the primary sodium pump.
• Ensure the test facility is appropriately designed to execute its testing mission for the primary sodium pump.
• Support development, maintenance, and refinement of plant level and system level requirement and specification documents.
• Lead and support design reviews and resolution of cross functional technical concerns.
• Design instrumentation for testing, based on data acquisition control hardware and software, to meet experimental test objectives.
• Develop and document test plans, test designs, and procedures for experiments in the large sodium test facility.
• Coordinate efforts across multiple teams to ensure smooth deliverables and close gaps as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of test engineering experience.
• Vendor test engineering oversight experience preferred.
• Experience working with high temperature alkali metals in a laboratory environment highly desired.
• Laboratory or industrial environment experience.
• Experience in designing and integrating data acquisition and control systems.
• Experience in designing and applying experimental hardware, instrumentation, and laboratory practices.
• Proficiency in writing test plans, requirements, and procedures.
• Hands-on laboratory work experience (analytical methods, glovebox work, standard laboratory practices).
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams to develop novel testing approaches and equipment.
• Strong analytical, planning, and testing skills for complex equipment.
• Understanding of configuration management principles and design control tools, especially in nuclear or similar complex applications.
• Capability to manage projects with multiple objectives and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to lead and coordinate design teams independently.
• Nuclear experience and working under a certified NQA-1 program preferred but not required.
