Description

Job Title: Test Engineer

Job Description

Join the team as a Test Engineer, where you will enhance and maintain the software framework that executes automated testing in a robotics-focused lab. You will become an expert in a proprietary software framework, write and debug C# code, and contribute to the development and execution of tests for hardware devices such as laptops and tablets. This role combines software engineering, hardware testing, and problem-solving to ensure high-quality, thoroughly validated products.

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert in the proprietary software framework used for robot testing and automated lab workflows.
  • Debug and troubleshoot software issues using C# as the primary programming language.
  • Develop and implement new automated tests and solutions to enhance functionality, coverage, and efficiency.
  • Write, modify, and maintain C# code to fix bugs, improve stability, and introduce new features as needed.
  • Work independently on assigned projects while collaborating closely with developers, test engineers, and product owners to meet engineering goals.
  • Test hardware devices such as laptops and tablets, focusing on Touch/Pen, Keyboard/Touchpad, and Sensors subsystems.
  • Execute tests in Windows environments using both graphical user interfaces (GUI) and command line interfaces.
  • Use tools such as oscilloscopes and other test equipment to validate hardware and software behavior.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical and software issues in robotic and hardware test applications.
  • Manage activities and deliver work with minimal supervision, ensuring tests are executed accurately and on schedule.
  • Collaborate with the team to report defects, track issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of test processes.
  • Work with ADO (Azure DevOps) work items to receive, track, and update assigned tasks and test activities.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly in English to team members and stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Professional experience with C# programming and software debugging.
  • Experience testing on Windows environments.
  • Experience using applications with both GUI and command line interfaces.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage activities and work independently on complex projects.
  • Ability to execute tests with little to no supervision.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with software testing or hardware test environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Science (BSCS), Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience managing and debugging robotic systems.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve both mechanical and software issues in robotic applications.
  • Experience working with robot fixtures in a test or lab environment.
  • Experience programming in C# or Python.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages and software development tools beyond C#.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment.
  • Experience working with sensors, touch/pen, keyboard, and touchpad subsystems.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar work item and task tracking tools.

Work Environment

This role is based in a lab environment focused on testing hardware devices such as laptops and tablets, particularly the Touch/Pen, Keyboard/Touchpad, and Sensors subsystems. You will work closely with a team of developers, test engineers, and product owners to ensure that hardware and software are tested and validated thoroughly. Work is assigned and tracked through ADO work items, providing structured task management and clear priorities. The position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support testing schedules and project timelines. You will use tools such as oscilloscopes and other test equipment, as well as Windows-based systems, GUI applications, and command line interfaces, to perform tests and debug issues. The environment supports professional growth, offers paid holidays and vacation time, and provides opportunities to work with modern technologies and robotics-related systems.
