Title: Test Engineering Lab Technician
Location:North Reading, MA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Pay Range: $40.00 - $50.00per hour
Job Description We are looking for a Test Engineering Lab Technician to join our engineering team. This role combines hands-on technical support in the lab with strong soldering skills to assist engineers in prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting. You will play a critical role in ensuring our test processes run smoothly, and our hardware prototypes are built and maintained to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
Perform soldering and assembly of electronic components, PCBs with precision and attention to detail
Manage daily operations of the Test Engineering Lab to ensure a safe, organized, and fully functional workspace
Oversee material control, including tracking, storing, issuing, and returning components, prototypes, and test assets
Process and support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain updated documentation
Build and support test setups, fixtures, and prototype assemblies
Work closely with hardware, test, and product engineers to support development, validation, and debug activities
Ensure compliance with lab procedures, configuration control, and engineering processes
Communicate status, risks, and lab needs clearly and proactively
Operate independently with strong organization and attention to detail
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with lab standards
Must Have
Engineering Lab Environment experience 3-5+ years
Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, engineering technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Previous experience in an R&D or engineering lab environment
Proven soldering skills (surface mount and through-hole) with ability to work on fine-pitch components
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
Good communication skills and collaborative mindset to work closely with engineers
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
