SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Test Technician I is responsible for setting up and performing basic electrical and functional tests on product to verify functionality and accuracy of terminated wiring. Perform simple electrical tests and environmental testing on components, subassemblies, and final assemblies to determine acceptability based on product specifications. Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner to protect self, others, products, materials, and other company assets from harm. Operates with a high degree of integrity in the performance of duties to foster good working relationships, maintain a spirit of teamwork, and accomplish job goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs insertion loss, resistance, thermal shock, and burn-in testing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists Quality and Engineering departments in performing other special tests as required
  • Creates, modifies and installs test programs into test systems.
  • Performs capacitance, insulation resistance and dielectric withstanding voltage testing and/or attenuation testing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Records results and determines pass/fail status based on comparing results with product specifications.
  • Maintains a high level of efficiency and workmanship quality in the testing process to ensure that production goals are met with minimal waste of time, effort, and materials.
  • Records data from the testing process for quality traceability in accordance with router instructions.
  • Reports testing results in an accurate and timely manner and summarizes daily assembly activity, including scrap and rework, for evaluation by the department supervisor.
  • Identifies and notifies lead/supervisor of complex testing problems for evaluation and correction and corrects routine problems.
  • Assists with the setup and execution of basic electrical and functional tests
  • Documents test results and related product information in product test reports for basic electrical and functional tests
  • Completes and maintains records of test results, test equipment used, and accompanying documentation for basic electrical and functional tests
  • Assists with troubleshooting efforts for perceived or validated nonconforming product
  • Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintains clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards, procedures and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required. Two (2) year technical degree in an engineering or related field, or 2+ years of relevant quality and manufacturing experience within an ISO controlled and/or government regulated environment
  • Experience within the Aerospace Industry with exposure to AS9100 and FAA regulations preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification required within three (3) months of hire.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language is a plus.

JOB SKILLS

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings and schematics
  • Ability to measure accurately using a ruler or tape measure
  • Understanding and experience in Lean manufacturing environment. Participate in 5S related performance teams.
  • Writing skills required to complete documents and forms
  • Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.
  • Proficient in MS Office and able to use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Outstanding organizational skills and experience with managing multiple deadlines at once
  • Strong technical skills including the ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Basic manual electrical test equipment as well as automatic electrical test equipment.
  • Network analyzer, AC/DC power supplies, thermal shock chamber, data acquisition system and various test equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
  • Hearing protection in specific locations.
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
