IAPMO R&T Lab is looking for a Bilingual Mechanical Test Technician II to join our laboratory team in Ontario, CA. This is a hands-on technical position where you’ll set up and test plumbing products, operate testing equipment, take measurements, document results, and help troubleshoot testing issues.

You do not need previous plumbing laboratory experience. Candidates with experience in mechanical work, manufacturing, quality, product testing, maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, automotive, or other hands-on technical environments are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Set up plumbing products and equipment for testing.
• Perform hands-on product testing according to established procedures and standards.
• Take measurements, record test data, and perform calculations such as flow rate and load testing.
• Assist with building test setups and troubleshooting testing or equipment issues.
• Prepare testing documentation and draft reports.
• Communicate and document technical information in English and Spanish.
• Work with clients, vendors, and other technical teams.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory.

The actual position includes product testing, engineering calculations, troubleshooting, building test setups, documentation, and vendor/client interaction.  

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related hands-on technical experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish — able to read, write, and speak proficiently in both languages.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Comfortable working with tools and testing equipment.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical, hands-on laboratory work.

Nice to Have — Not Required

• Plumbing or plumbing-product experience.
• Product testing or quality-control experience.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes or standards.
• Technical or vocational training.

Hourly Pay: $23.17–$29.52

Final compensation is based on relevant experience, education, skills, and other applicable factors.

The salary range for this position will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
