Job Title: Test Technician

Job Description

Join our team as a Test Technician where you will play a crucial role in the QA process for prototype vehicles and components within the Test & Development group. This position focuses on testing new designs and improvements for scissor lifts and similar construction equipment. This is an R&D role rather than a production role, offering a dynamic and varied work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on testing of heavy equipment, focusing 70% of the time on hydraulics and electronics.
  • Operate under the supervision of a Test Engineer or Test Engineer to verify performance and validate machines and components according to Internal Standard Test Procedures and External Standards.
  • Install various types of instrumentation such as pressure ports, temperature sensors, and data acquisition systems (Somat eDAQ).
  • Operate test machines in compliance with standard procedures (Note: no off-site driving involved).
  • Communicate and document any machine issues encountered during the build process.
  • Support process improvement activities within the Test and Development group.
  • Perform tests on systems and components, focusing on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot systems, conduct basic failure analysis, and adhere to detailed test procedures.
  • Fabricate test fixtures and establish appropriate instrumentation, test sequences, and procedures.
  • Routinely work with a data acquisition system, specifically the EDAQ system.

Essential Skills

  • Troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and technical documentation writing.
  • Mechanical experience combined with modern troubleshooting and diagnostics systems.
  • GED or High School Diploma required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting complete systems including hydraulic pumps and cooling systems.
  • Familiarity with Data Acquisition systems or similar testing equipment.
  • Experience with moving equipment like farm machinery, forklifts, or heavy construction equipment.
  • in electrical technology or mechanical systems.
  • Test set-up experience and electronic testing and troubleshooting.

This is a Contract position based out of Orrville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
