Job Family: Operations – General
The Test Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and supporting electronic products, components, and systems to ensure production quality standards are achieved. This role supports manufacturing by maintaining test processes, improving yields, and ensuring reliability and compliance.
Develop, maintain, and improve test and burn-in processes within assigned areas.
Review and update process specifications to ensure alignment with current test methods and requirements.
Ensure all testing activities comply with safety regulations, ISO standards, and applicable certifications.
Monitor quality yields and implement corrective actions to improve performance and product reliability.
Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to analyze production and field data for continuous improvement.
Support fabrication, development, and implementation of test equipment, fixtures, and programs.
Perform and coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, diagnostics, and requalification of equipment.
Assist with new product introductions and engineering development activities.
Troubleshoot and repair test systems, coordinating recovery efforts to minimize downtime.
Participate in equipment moves, line reconfigurations, and process improvements.
Develop and support training and certification programs for test processes.
Prepare and support disaster recovery planning for test operations.
Configure firmware, connect hardware, and set up systems including disk arrays and network connections.
Perform module verification and multi-level system debugging.
Education & Experience:
Associate degree, military technical training, or equivalent experience required.
Experience levels vary by grade (typically 1–8+ years in electronics testing or manufacturing).
Understanding of electronic assembly, schematics, PCB work, and soldering techniques.
Proficiency using testing equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, component testers).
Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measurement tools.
Experience troubleshooting hardware and software across multiple system levels.
Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, DOS, Unix) and basic networking.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical instructions and apply mathematical concepts.
Effective communication skills for collaboration and training.
Manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
Frequent repetitive motion and handling of small components.
Regular sitting with occasional standing and walking.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (with assistance if needed).
Requires close vision, color differentiation, and depth perception.
