Department: Library Salary: $12.00 per hour

Description:

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Student Worker performs daily tasks throughout the ILL department, processes Interlibrary Loan requests using the Tipasa software system, and tracks unclaimed loans and shipped items. The student may also assist with additional projects for the ILL or Circulation department which include some social media duties.

Interlibrary Loan is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Duties:

• Processing incoming and outgoing book and article requests
• Shelving, retrieving, and transporting books and other print materials
• Packaging and shipping outgoing library materials
• Processing and checking in incoming materials
• Light clerical work
• Scanning and distributing articles to other libraries using Tipasa or email
• Performs circulation duties: check(s) in and out library materials, headphones, cables, etc.
• Light cleaning of 5th floor workstation
• Shelving returned materials
• Library focused content creation for library social media accounts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills
• The ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and work independently under minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in at least six (6) college hours at UHD in the semester in which you are applying
• Qualifies for Texas Work Study via Financial Aid
