Job Description

The Normal Theater staff are integral to the operations of our historic repertory cinema. The staff maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patrons to enjoy films and live events while providing first-class customer service. The ultimate responsibility of Normal Theater staff is to provide a seamless experience for patrons to enjoy films in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Shift hours vary. Typically shifts are from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday - Sunday with additional shifts Saturday and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Additional shift times can vary throughout the calendar year. Staff are expected to work evenings and weekends.

Duties/Essential Job Functions

• Maintaining a clean and sanitized theater for film and live events
• Making popcorn and following the food code for proper sanitation, storage, and packaging
• Selling tickets and concessions while utilizing a point-of-sale computer terminal
• Supervising patrons during events to ensure a safe environment in our theater and to avoid any filming or disruptions during events.
• Setting up AV equipment for public and private speaking events and talk backs
• Changing out marquee messages and film posters

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

• Previous experience with point-of-sales systems
• Customer service experience
• Experience with setting up AV equipment

Desirable Training and Experience

• Previous experience working at a cinema or theater
• Customer service experience
• Enjoy films as a form of entertainment and appreciate the artform cinema offers
