The Therapeutic Riding Instructor will provide competent instruction through person-centered planning and complete required documentation of riders at Star Equestrian Center.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have at least 5 years' experience working with horses, 1 year experience teaching beginner-intermediate, and be PATH Intl CTRI certified. Must be able to lift and transfer at least 50lbs. Availability for flexible work schedule a must. Must be able to speak and write proficiently in English and possess a valid driver's license that meets the requirements of Star's insurance carrier.
Essential Duties:
Will work to support and exemplify the values, vision, and mission of Star Community
Will teach scheduled classes in 8-week sessions
Will assist barn manager in horse care as needed
Will assist with volunteer training as needed
Will assign volunteers for classes and barn chores during your lesson times
Will assign appropriate horses for riders at least 1 week in advance of each lesson
Will keep accurate progress reports for all your riders
Will assist center director in facilitating communication to riders, parents, and volunteers regarding program issues, and events/fundraisers.
Will attend regular staff meetings as scheduled
Will communicate appropriately and effectively to center director, barn manager, and other riding instructors about all matters.
Will work as a team player
Will be self-motivated and a self-starter
Will complete all required in-service trainings, and CPR and meet renewal requirements with PATH
Will attend continuing educational opportunities and Star's events as scheduled
Will follow all PATH compliance guidelines
Will perform other duties as assigned
