General Description
The Program Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents in a juvenile justice residential setting using a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach. Additionally, this position provides case management services to the adolescents on his or her assigned caseload and crisis intervention as needed.
Hours of Work
- Generally, Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be
required to meet the needs of youth and their families.
Essential Functions
- Work with assigned youth and their families to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy in a juvenile justice residential setting.
- Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team working together to meet the needs of each youth and their family.
- Provides case management services to youth and their families.
- Provides crisis intervention to youth in detention when needed.
- Conducts evaluations of potential clients regarding their appropriateness for participation in the residential program.
- Seeks out and attends professional conferences and training workshops for personal development.
- All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
- Experience providing direct services including individual therapy, group therapy, and family-focused treatment is required.
- Experience with youth involved in the juvenile justice system and/or residential treatment programs is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently and develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with residential program staff.
- Proficient with Microsoft software including Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Demonstrates competent written and verbal communication.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements (Ed and/or Other Requirements)
- You must possess a master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and resident of Illinois or Wisconsin - subject to approval.
- Candidates for this position must be certified by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC). The following is a link to the required form: Employment | Probation/Court Services
- Candidates must obtain clinical licensure (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Psychologist) within one year.
- Preferably bilingual (Spanish-speaking)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds on a as needed basis
- Moderate ability to operate office equipment.
