Position Summary

The School-Based Therapist provides therapy and behavioral health support to students in a school setting. This role supports students experiencing mental health concerns, emotional challenges, behavioral issues, family stressors, peer conflict, academic stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other barriers that may impact school functioning and overall well-being.

This full-time position is designed for a qualified behavioral health professional who can provide student-centered therapy, collaborate with school personnel and families, and deliver evidence-based interventions that support emotional wellness, coping skills, crisis prevention, and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services to students in a school-based behavioral health setting

  • Complete clinical assessments, treatment plans, safety plans, progress notes, and ongoing treatment updates

  • Use evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches such as CBT, DBT skills, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and strengths-based interventions

  • Support students with anxiety, depression, mood concerns, behavioral challenges, coping skills, emotional regulation, peer relationships, family conflict, grief, trauma, and school-related stress

  • Collaborate with school staff, families, referral partners, community providers, and the multidisciplinary behavioral health team to coordinate care

  • Participate in case consultation, treatment team meetings, care coordination, and clinical supervision as appropriate

  • Respond appropriately to student safety concerns, crisis situations, and mandated reporting responsibilities in accordance with policy and applicable regulations

  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow ethical guidelines, HIPAA requirements, confidentiality standards, school protocols, and organizational policies

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred, Bachelors level welcome.

  • Professional licensure, associate licensure, or eligibility to provide behavioral health services under applicable supervision requirements preferred

  • Experience providing therapy, counseling, case management, crisis support, or behavioral health services to children, adolescents, or students preferred

  • Strong understanding of student mental health, family systems, trauma-informed care, school-related stressors, and evidence-based behavioral health treatment

  • Ability to build rapport with students, families, school personnel, and community partners while maintaining professional boundaries

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including timely and accurate clinical documentation

  • Must meet organizational requirements for background checks, onboarding, credentialing, school access, and full-time employment

Education/Licensure:
