About Us:

We are one of the nation’s leading providers of industrial solutions, serving as the single-source for our client’s custom shell and tube heat transfer equipment. Our fully integrated shop services include state-of-the-art technologies, engineering, design, manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and repair.

Job Summary:

Ohmstede Ltd is seeking a candidate to perform thermal and mechanical analysis to determine requirements for design and fabrication of new shell and tube heat exchangers or for the repair/rebuild/modification of existing heat exchangers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Transition customer design specifications from conceptual to actual design that meets specified code of construction and industry standards requirements.
  • Analyze customer process data, heating and cooling curves, and design margin requirements to establish properties and to produce thermal calculations which determine the size and heat transfer capability of an appropriate shell and tube heat exchanger design.
  • Verify thermal design work meets heat transfer, hydraulic, and vibration/acoustic requirements.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to provide heat transfer and mechanical design specific engineering assistance.
  • Using software (Heat Transfer Research Institute X-Vibe), perform analysis and calculations to address vibration issues in shell and tube heat exchangers, including determining the size and location of anti-vibration stakes (Dimple Tube Supports) and eliminating vibrations in existing exchangers for multiple customers in the USA and abroad.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex mathematical and engineering related problems with or without the aid of computer software programs.
  • Develop specialization in thermal and pressure vessel (heat exchangers).
  • Less than 5% travel for in-person meetings with customers and in-house special training.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the heat exchanger industry.
