This expansion reflects our commitment to growth and innovation in the climate solutions industry.Thermodynamics Engineer, Chiller New Product DevelopmentWhy This Role ExistsAs XNRGY scales its chiller portfolio, we need a dedicated thermodynamics expert embedded in the NPD team to accelerate product development cycles, improve system efficiency, and ensure our chiller architectures meet the rigorous performance and reliability standards demanded by hyperscale operators.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Architecture & Design — Develop and optimize chiller system architectures using advanced thermodynamic principles, including vapor compression cycles, heat exchanger design, and refrigerant selection for low‑GWP complianceModeling & Simulation — Build, validate, and continuously improve chiller performance models; execute thermodynamic cycle simulations across full operating envelopes including part‑load and off‑design conditionsRefrigerant & Hydraulic Systems — Design and specify refrigerant piping, hydraulic circuits, and associated structural components in compliance with ASHRAE, AHRI, and applicable safety standardsNPD Lifecycle Participation — Active contributor across the full new product development process: concept generation, feasibility analysis, prototype testing, performance validation, and production releaseTesting & Validation — Define and execute calorimeter and field test protocols; analyze results and drive design iterations to meet performance targetsCross‑Functional Collaboration — Partner closely with controls engineers, manufacturing engineers, procurement, and product management to ensure designs are producible, cost‑effective, and on scheduleCompetitive Benchmarking — Monitor competitive chiller technology trends and emerging refrigerant regulations to inform roadmap decisionsDocumentation — Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation to support certification and customer submittalsQualificationsRequiredB.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. with thermodynamics or thermal‑fluids concentration strongly preferred5–8 years of progressive experience in HVAC or chiller system design and developmentDeep expertise in vapor compression cycles, heat transfer, psychrometrics, and fluid mechanicsHands‑on experience with chiller modeling tools (e.g., REFPROP, Coolpack, or proprietary simulation platforms)Working knowledge of low‑GWP refrigerants (R‑454B, R‑32, R‑1234ze, R‑513A)Familiarity with ASHRAE Standards (15, 34, 90.1) and AHRI performance certification requirementsExperience in an engineered‑to‑order or custom manufacturing environmentPreferredExposure to data center cooling applications, including free cooling, economizer modes, and liquid cooling (CDU, rear‑door, immersion)Knowledge of PUE optimization and hyperscaler thermal infrastructure requirementsPE license or active pursuitCompetenciesFirst‑principles engineering thinker with strong analytical rigorComfortable operating in a fast‑paced, hypergrowth environment with shifting prioritiesCollaborative, hands‑on, and solutions‑orientedStrong written and verbal communication — able to present technical content to non‑technical stakeholdersWhy choose XNRGY!Competitive salaryMedical, dental, and vision insurance401KEmployee Assistance ProgramPaid time offA dynamic team, open to change to bring its colorModern state of the art facility with Industry 4.0 technology in Mesa, ArizonaBeing part of a green industry transformationFast‑growing dynamic environment where entrepreneurial spirit is recognizedInclusive and diversity‑friendly environmentCareer advancement: XNRGY promotes internal promotionElectric charging stationsAt XNRGY Climate Systems , we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
