We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Auditor to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for ensuring that products meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and internal quality standards.
In addition to performing dimensional, visual, and functional inspections, the Quality Inspector will play an important role in creating, updating, and maintaining work instructions and inspection procedures. This position will work closely with Quality and Production to establish clear and consistent processes that support product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of plastic components.
Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, appearance, workmanship, functionality, and compliance with customer requirements.
Read and interpret drawings and understand specifications requirements.
Use precision inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other measurement tools.
Identify and document defects including warpage, flash, sink marks, short shots, burns, cracks, scratches, contamination, dimensional variation, and other nonconformances.
Develop clear, step-by-step work instructions using photographs, drawings, diagrams, visual examples, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
Review existing work instructions to ensure they accurately reflect current processes, equipment, specifications, and quality requirements.
Work with Production and Quality personnel to identify opportunities to improve and standardize manufacturing and inspection procedures.
Assist with training production personnel on new or revised work instructions, inspection methods, and quality requirements.
Verify that operators are following approved work instructions and established quality procedures.
Document inspection results accurately and maintain required quality records.
Identify and communicate quality issues to Production, Engineering, and Quality Management.
Assist with containment and disposition of nonconforming material.
Participate in root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement activities.
Assist with reducing scrap, rework, customer complaints, and recurring quality issues.
Support internal, customer, and quality-system audits by providing appropriate documentation and records.
Maintain proper use and care of inspection equipment and verify calibration status.
Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience with injection molding and/or thermoforming is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques and measurement equipment.
Understanding of basic manufacturing tolerances.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to create clear and concise work instructions.
Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic quality documentation.
Ability to work effectively with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel.
Experience with ISO 9001, or other quality-management systems is a plus.
Ability to work alone without direct supervision.
Preferred Experience:
1+ years of quality inspection experience in plastics manufacturing.
Injection molding or thermoforming experience is preferred.
Experience creating manufacturing or inspection work instructions.
Experience with visual standards and defect identification.
Experience using inspection equipment and measurement tools.
Experience working from customer drawings and specifications.
Experience with continuous improvement and root-cause analysis.

Ability to lift and move parts or materials within the requirements of the position, with appropriate assistance when necessary.
