Role at a Glance
Join a hands-on role that blends process mastery with floor leadership in a medical and general manufacturing setting. As the Thermoplastic Injection Molding Process Lead, you will guide a 4–5 press operation through precise setups, optimized processing, and real-time troubleshooting while mentoring operators on the floor.
Compensation & Schedule
- $70,000–$75,000/year (based on experience)
- 1st Shift (Day Shift) – Occasional extended hours as needed
A Day in the Role
You’ll begin by walking the floor, confirming that four to five injection presses are running within approved process windows. From there, you’ll execute tool changeovers, start-ups, and tear-downs; dial in parameters to stabilize cycles; and address any quality risks before they become scrap. You’ll ensure the right molds, thermoplastic resins, dryers, robots, and auxiliary equipment are set up correctly, then launch new runs and support first article inspections (FAI) and process verifications. Throughout the shift, you’ll tune processes to eliminate defects—flash, short shots, sinks, warpage, burns, and cosmetic issues—while documenting setup conditions and updating work instructions. You’ll also coordinate preventive care for molds to keep the operation reliable.
